Knicks lose to Hornets
The Linsanity craze can die down a trifle and the cry for Carmelo Anthony's comeback can pick up. The Linning streak is over at seven games. The clock struck midnight on Linderella.
The Knicks got buried in a 14 point first quarter hole because of Jeremy Lin's five turnover period, and they sustained a humbling 89 85 loss to the Hornets, the NBA's second worst team (7 23).
Lin, the global phenomenon who was unbeaten entering last night, committed eight turnovers in the first half. He settled down in the final two quarters, but didn't have any miracles left in him or enough potent play around him. The Madison Square Garden crowd went home disappointed for the first time in two weeks .
Lin said he was "lackluster'' at the start and "careless with the ball." He tied for the team high with 26 points, cheap wedding dresses five assists and four steals, but had nine turnovers, missing an ignominious double double by one.
He is a marked man now, as Hornets players collapsed on his every penetration, trying to rip the ball out. Lin apparently learned at Harvard not to make excuses.
"Nine turnovers is obviously never going to get it done from your primary ball handler,'' Lin said. "Everyone wants to credit me for the last seven games. I'll definitely take this one on my shoulders. It's fine by me.''
"I don't think he expected to go without a defeat this year,'' Mike D'Antoni said.
Now that the streak is over, Lin said he thinks the frenzy could lessen.
"I hate losing but I know what you're saying in everything dying down a bit,'' Lin said. "From Cheap NFL Jerseys that end it may help me, help the team a bit in having off the court cool down. It's obviously very disappointing. I felt it could've been a game for us to win.''
It probably won't cool down much. Anthony (strained groin) could return for tomorrow's game against the defending champion Mavericks.
Last night, the celebrities littered the front row to see Lin's Knicks Paul McCartney, Jerry Rice, Piers Morgan among them but the Knicks shot as ugly as New Orleans' garish purple and green uniforms that represent the colors of Mardi Gras. Smith, the Knicks (15 16) shot a pitiful 4 of 24 from 3 point range, doing Lin no favors.
"Obviously we could've used [Smith] tonight,'' D'Antoni said.
D'Antoni didn't think the loss was Lin's fault.
"I thought he played well,'' D'Antoni said. "We just didn't make our outside shots. We held them to 89 points and we should've won.''
Smith will land in New York tonight but miss practice. He is not expected to play tomorrow against Dallas without a practice.
"It should be devastating, Carmelo coming back is definitely a great weapon for us,'' said Amar'e Stoudemire, who scored 26 points with 12 rebounds. "It's going to be something the opposing defense doesn't want to see.''
Lin finally set a negative statistical record. For all of his heroics, his nine turnovers makes it five straight games with at least six or more miscues the worst streak in 25 years and believed to be a Cheap NFL Jerseys Wholesale franchise record. He nearly had a double double at halftime with 10 points and eight turnovers.
"I told him he was trying to make the hardest pass out there,'' D'Antoni said. "He was trying to make the home run pass. He will learn.''
"It's difficult I'm sure for a point guard because teams are now keying in on him,'' Stoudemire said.
While Stoudemire rolled, Tyson Chandler never got going (10 points) and Landry Fields (four points) reverted to early season form 1 of 8 shooting. Anthony's much debated return will at least toss struggling Bill Walker out of the starting lineup. He can't make a shot lately and had just two points, going 1 for 5 from the field.
The stars were not aligned for the first time in two weeks and perhaps Knicks superfan Spike Lee even overdid it, wearing Lin's green Palo Alto high school jersey.
"He's definitely a focus but still did a great job,'' Chandler cheap prom dresses online said. "He got some hands in there that disrupted him. He's still making the right reads.''

NFL Sports Agent Leigh Steinberg Files for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy
Sports agent Leigh Steinberg, the inspiration for the "show me the money" character in the movie "Jerry Maguire," filed for bankruptcy protection for debt ranging from $1 million to $5 million.
Steinberg, who represented NFL stars like Troy Aikman, Steve Young and Ben Roethlisberger, cited his children's health problems, a "forbidden" business transaction from one of his employees, and a former struggle with alcoholism as catalysts for the financial problems.
His attorney, Alessandro Assanti, said Steinberg's two children had suffered "serious medical issues," including the eye disease retinitis pigmentosa, which can cause near blindness. That and other replica christian louboutin shoes problems caused Steinberg to turn to alcohol, Assanti added, though he has been sober since 2010.
"So many terrible things were going on in his life personally, it was difficult to balance," Assanti said.
Steinberg's attorneys filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection late Wednesday in Santa Ana, Calif.
He has represented at least six of the NFL's No. 1 draft picks since 1989, according to The New York Times.
Stephen Cannella, a Sports Illustrated senior editor, said in many ways Steinberg created the role of the modern sports agent not just in football but in every sport. He had the ability to negotiate big money contracts and he was the first agent to develop a superagent persona.
"If you were a top tier player, especially a quarterback, then there was little debate over who you wanted your agent to be," Cannella wrote in an email. "Having him as representation almost became a status symbol for players coming out of college, a way of announcing yourself as a start before you had even signed a contract."
He helped negotiate Aikman's contract in 1993 for $50 million over eight years, the biggest contract in NFL history at the time according to USA Today, when he was a quarterback with the Dallas Cowboys. Aikman's signing bonus of $11 million was also the biggest in NFL history at that time. His $6.25 million package average passed Young's $5.35 million average when he was a quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers.
In 1995, Steinberg helped negotiate another record contract this time, for Drew Bledsoe with the New England Patriots.
Since then, many NFL stars, including Peyton Manning of the Indianapolis Colts, Brett Favre of the Green Bay Packers and Albert Haynesworth of the Washington Redskins, have reportedly signed contracts in the range of $98 to $100 million for seven to 10 years.
Despite getting a cut of some of the largest deals in sports history, somehow the money was squandered away. Steinberg listed his only asset as $475,000 in stock in the bankruptcy filing.
"There's always the question in bankruptcy of whether the lifestyle got ahead of the earnings or the earnings fell behind the lifestyle," Stephen Greyser, business of sports professor with the Harvard Business School, said.
"I just lost track NFL Jerseys Wholesale while I was in rehab," Steinberg told the Associated Press regarding his own finances.
There was a warrant issued for Steinberg, known as the first super agent, in December over a $1.4 million debt from a landlord. The warrant was issued after Steinberg did not show up to a hearing, though he said an attorney failed Cheap Jerseys Wholesale to change the date of it.
Steinberg said he delayed filing for bankruptcy for several years "because of my moral and legal obligation to people who advanced me funds or performed replica louboutin services in good faith."
"But the constant and aggressive collection efforts and press initiatives undertaken by creditors have harassed my family and prevented me from working to be able to pay these debts," he said in a statement.

Green Bay vs Detroit
Matthew Stafford and Reggie Bush did their part to keep the Aaron Rodgers less Green Bay Packers in the game.
Stafford turned the ball over a few times and Bush did once.
Instead of crumbling and losing confidence, both players bounced back and helped the Detroit Lions put together a dominant performance after an awful start.
Stafford threw three touchdown passes, including one to Calvin Johnson, Bush had 182 yards of offence and scored, and Detroit scored 37 straight points to rout Green Bay 40 10 on Thursday.
"When we get out of our own way, we can be pretty special," Bush said.
Early on, it looked as if the Lions were going to find another way to waste chances to win a game and take control of the NFC North.
'This is something that is going to make a lot of guys on this team think, and that's good. Hawk
"It's easy when you lose a couple games in a row, particularly the fashion that we lost, for people to say, 'Here we go again,"' Detroit coach Jim Schwartz said. "I'm sure there were some people that were saying that, but they weren't on our sideline."
The Lions (7 5) had lost their last two games, five consecutive against Green Bay and a franchise record nine straight in their annual showcase on Thanksgiving.
"It's a step in the right direction for us," Stafford said. "I'm sure the turkey will taste better."
The Packers (5 6 1) have a five Cheap Hats game winless streak for the first time since 2008. Hawk said. "This is something that is going to make a lot of guys on this team think, and that's good. We need to find some answers because they just ran the ball down our throats."
Bush responded from fumbling deep in Green chi flat irons Bay territory to score a 1 yard TD run that gave Detroit a 17 10 lead late in the first half. He finished with 117 yards rushing and 65 yards receiving. Bush' backup, Joique Bell, ran for a career high 94 yards and a score.
The Packers, painfully, are finding out how valuable Rodgers is for the franchise. Rodgers has missed four plus games since fracturing his left collarbone. Green Bay has tied one and lost Wholesale Snapbacks four without him.
"We're a wounded team that got drilled by a good football team," Packers coach Mike McCarthy said.
Matt Flynn became the fourth starting quarterback for Green Bay this year and was sacked seven times, once by Ndamukong Suh for a safety.
Flynn didn't fare as well as he did in his last start for Green Bay against the same opponent.
He was 10 of 20 for 139 yards with an interception and two fumbles. In the last game of the 2011 regular season, while Rodgers rested for the playoffs, Flynn threw for 480 yards and six TDs in a 45 41 win over Detroit.
"They might have a lot of the same guys, but I can say they're a different defence," Flynn said. "They're flying around, creating havoc."
The Packers have been leaning on rookie running back Eddie Lacy lately, but he was limited to 16 yards on 10 carries against one of the NFL's best defences against the run.
Detroit was balanced on offence.
Johnson had six receptions for 101 yards and a 20 yard TD to put the Lions up 24 10 early in the third quarter. He has 4,944 yards receiving in two plus seasons, breaking Jerry Rice's NFL record for yards receiving in a three year stretch. Rice had 4,850 yards receiving from 1993 to 1995.
Stafford was 22 of 35 for 330 yards with two interceptions and a fumble that was returned by Morgan Burnett to put the Packers up 10 3 early in the second quarter.
After that, Detroit did whatever it wanted on both sides of the ball. And if the Lions didn't start the game so poorly, the score could've been even more lopsided.
Detroit gained 561 yards and gave up just 126.
Green Bay didn't have more than 100 yards of offence until Flynn threw a 56 yard pass to Jordy Nelson with a little more than a minute left. Flynn then fumbled in a fitting end for a game that he and his chi flat iron website team would like to forget.
Packers guard Josh Sitton might've fired up the Lions, saying they were "dirtbags," a couple days before the game, but didn't seem to regret his choice of words.
"I don't take back anything I said," Sitton said. "But I don't want to stand here and discuss it again."
Dallas coach Jason Garrett says Tony Romo hasn't been ruled out for a winner take all finale against Philadelphia after injuring his back against Washington.

Knicks fall to Blazers as losing skid hits six
Woodson lost his third straight game to Portland and sixth overall Mondayand now he perhaps is starting to lose his players specifically, Iman Shumpert.
Owner James Dolan, in his interview with The Post last week, said Woodson job is safe because he hadn't lost the players and has their "respect.'' Didn't look like it Monday.
A disastrous, spirit less 34 18 first quarter essentially ended the night prematurely as the Knicks were pushed around, 102 91, at the Moda Center to fall to 3 10. Smith suggested last week.
"We came out not ready to play,'' Woodson said. "We were awful. The game was won in the first quarter. We just weren't committed defensively.''
Shumpert, who has had a rocky relationship with Woodson, played with no noticeable passion or energy. It was rare to see him make so little an impact. He had three fouls, two turnovers, no points, no rebounds, no assists, missed all three of his shots and got beaten to every loose ball on his way to a team worst minus 22. The trade talk looks as if it's demoralized him, made him look indecisive.
"Iman didn't Cheap Jerseys From China have much in his tank in the first quarter," Woodson admitted. "He was just out there. I'll sit and talk to him (Tuesday) and see where his head is at."
Shumpert said the club is in "a tough jam,'' but wouldn't blame the trade reports.
"I don't think so,'' Shumpert said. "I think we're just losing. Losing affects everybody. I don't think trade talks do.''
Amar'e Stoudemire seemed ready to dig the team out of the hole before tip off. When someone put on the Monday Night football game between the Redskins and 49ers on a locker room TV, Stoudemire had them shut it off. "We've lost five straight games,'' he said sharply.
Now it's six. Stoudemire stayed on the court after the final buzzer for an extra 10 seconds, perhaps wondering what is going on.
"Frustration is at an all time high right now,'' said Stoudemire, who provided some spark off the bench with 10 points and six rebounds. "I worked my butt off to get into top shape. It's not fun to lose.''
Carmelo Anthony said before the game another loss would turn the "monkey on our backs into a cheap wedding dresses gorilla.'' He is now running out of metaphors.
"It's frustrating,'' Anthony said afterward. "If you're happy during these times? It's a tough situation. It's OK to think positive but it's tough times right now. The only way we're going to do it is together and to dig ourselves out of this hole. But if we keep digging and digging, this hole is going to get deeper and deeper.''
Anthony never let up and scored 34 points with 15 rebounds, but didn't have enough support. Smith, his mediocre season continuing, was plagued with foul trouble and mustered just six points in a limp2 of 6 outing.
"They didn't let me play today,'' Smith said. "I'm tired of losing whether I score zero points or 50.''
The arena's name has changed from the Rose Garden, but the sad results stayed the same. The Blazers have won 11 of the last 13 games played against the Knicks in Portland and are now a surprising 13 2 with an 11 game winning streak.
The Knicks were pathetic defensively early on and got blown out, trailing by cheap wedding dresses online double digits after six minutes. The Blazers did everything better than the Knicks in the period, even getting to loose balls.
Point guard Damian Lillard and small forward Nicolas Batum each finished with 23 points. LaMarcus Aldridge added 18 points and Wesley Matthew pumped in 17.
Early in the fourth, the Knicks NFL Jerseys Wholesale cut it to seven points before immediately collapsing again. After Andrea Bargnani hit a 3 pointer, Metta World Peace got a technical for delay of game for touching the ball. Soon after, World Peace blew a layup, leading to a Blazers fastbreak. Then Shumpert capped his awful night, throwing an errant bounce pass in the lane that was intercepted and led to a Blazers fast break 3 pointer and 87 74 lead.
The Blazers dominated the paint early, scoring 10 of their first 18 points inside during a Portland parade of layups. Batum, meanwhile, was left open often from the perimeter and drilled 4 of 5 shots, 2 of3 on 3 pointers. Batum had 15 by halftime.
Lillard, Portland's fabulous young star, was left open twice at the 3 point line in the quarter and made the Knicks pay for their silly down low doubling. The Blazers shot 52.2 percent from the field in the first 12 minutes.
